Field

4/13/2017 Thursday  18:00

Location: Sand Island near the Ice House in Bethlehem

Weather: 60, Partly sunny, humidity 32% and wind 10mph

Habitat: Trees and brushes blowing in the little wind we had. Kids running around with their parents at the playground. People running on the trail. Group of guys playing basketball and people playing tennis. Flowers blooming from the trees. The smell of spring in the air. The clouds covering the sun from shining.

Remarks: Thinking how calming and relaxing to just sit there and enjoy the nature. Watching the leaves blow in the breeze and the noise of the leaves moving. Enjoying the nice scenery.  Hearing kids laughing and enjoying their time with their parents at the playground.

Comments: It is important to take a step back from a busy life and just look up and look where you are at. Enjoy where you are. Enjoy the scenery and take in what life has to give you. It is okay to stop running away and having something to do all day everyday and go watch the leaves blow in the breeze and hear kids play in a playground.

Being able to sit outside on this spring night is great. Hearing and seeing the tears and bushes moving in the breeze; and having the smell of spring in the air is amazing. Watching the kids at the playground running around having fun with their parents on the jungle gym is a great scene. Walking down the trail you can feel the calming presence in the air. The inner joy you feel seeing the flowers blooming and the smell of the trees growing their leaves back. As the clouds are covering the sun, a small chill comes through the air for a nice brisk spring night. Watching how everyone is smiling and enjoying their time with friends and family, it gives a person a sense of relaxation inside themselves. It is easy to work and be busy everyday and not think of giving yourself some free time to relax and enjoy the small things in life.

4/15/2017 Saturday  17:35

Location: Lookout, Near Lehigh University

Weather: 62, Cloudy, Humidity 46% and wind 8mph

Habitat: Hearing the cars drive by. Hearing the birds chirping in the trees.  The peaceful sound of the breeze as it goes through the trees and brushes. Looking out at the buildings and how beautiful the city looks. Watching the sun go down as the sunset is setting.

Remarks: How relaxing it is to sit there and look out to your hometown and seeing how pretty it is. Clearing your mind from everything that is going around in the world. Realizing there is more to life then work and school.

Comments: It is a nice getaway to just go somewhere and reflect on you. Realize what you really want and what makes you happy. In our busy lives it is not easy to take some time for yourself sometimes.

Sitting on the ledge and looking out to my beautiful hometown, I see all the gorgeous lights brighting up the streets. Being there alone and just realizing life can be so simple. Hearing the birds chirping, the wind blowing in the trees is such a peaceful feeling. Watching the sun go down as it sets and the colors it makes are amazing. The red and orange color mixtures and the light that shines fro the sun is a beautiful experience. Being able to clear your mind from all the stress in the world, feels like a weight has been lifted off your body. I realized life is to short to work and be busy everyday. To not take time for yourself and enjoy just looking and seeing how amazing life around you can be is a bad thing.

Campus Resource

Going to college can give someone a lot of opportunities to succeed in their career and in life. There are so many options to give to the community or the extra help someone might need in a subject they are having some trouble in. In Northampton Community College they have the Learning Center. Anyone attending the college can go and get help for any subject. Some subjects will need appointments to be seen, but some have walk-in hours. You can also get help online, if you have a busy schedule and can not make it to the learning center. They give every option possible to help the students. I, myself went to the Learning center to get some help on my writing assignment. I had the pleasure to have Maggie help me make sure my thesis was good and my supporting ideas went with the thesis. She made the experience comfortable and joyful. She let me know what would make my paper sound better, and gave me little tricks to put things togethers, to make the paper have a better flow. At the end I had my thesis statement and my supporting details for my paper. I left my appointment with a better understanding on what I needed to. Having a place to go to knowing you'll get the help that you need in the subject you're having trouble with is great. They take every minute to help as much as they can. If you haven't went yet, I suggest you do.

Education

I've struggled in school from a very young age. What took people a few tries to get right, it will make me twice as long to get it right. I learned with the help of my teachers and parents from elementary school all the way to high school. I used to think it was a bad thing that I was not able to learn as quickly as everyone else. But I still received A's and B's just like everyone else. As the years went on I noticed what my strong subjects were and weak subjects. I was good in science and math. I enjoyed that there was only one way to do things; there was only one way to get an answer. On the other hand English and reading were not my best subjects. The different types of essays we had to wright always confused me. It did not change when I was high school and even college. I always have to rewrite my essays at least two to three times until I'm comfortable with them. Throughout the years I've been in school it has taught me that everyone is different. Everyone learns different but there is no right or wrong way to learn. I've been out of school for four years and decided to come back to further my career, and not being in school for that long showed me how important school is. I should have came back sooner because it is very different from four years ago. I can say I'm glad to be back in school and what I can learn to take with me in my future.

"Home"

"Home is where your heart is." I've heard this saying all my life. Home is just not a house or a place where you spend most of your time at. Home is where you feel comfortable at and you can be yourself with others. For most people home is their childhood house or the house they currently live in. Where most of their memories come from. My home is where my family is. Whether we're out for dinner, at a park or at each other's house, I'm home. We spend every holiday together and any big accomplishments that may happen in our family. We support each other in everything that we do. They are the reason why I push myself so hard. They guided me through every step in my life; through school and graduating. Into college and going into my career. Regardless of trouble we might have, at the end of the day we will be there for each other.

Home doesn't have to be one place and it doesn't need to be a place at all. Home can be with certain people. Besides my family, I'm home with my closest friends. They've had a huge impact in my life. Some I have been friends with over 20 years and some have been only the past 6 years or so. But time does not matter when a person is truly there for you. They don't ask for anything in return besides your friendship. Those are the people I will cherish in my life forever. My home is not a place, my home is with people I love and care for.

Meet Rayn!

Rayn is a graduate from Lehigh Valley Academy Regional Charter School. She has a passion for acting. She is taking theater right now, she loves being on stage and it helps with the stress of school. During one of the plays she was in, in high school, she mentioned she had a wardrobe malfunction. She went on stage and the left side of her pants was slit open. So the whole time on stage she had to hold them close during her performance. Her major is forensic anthropology. She has always had an interest in it but watching the show Bones pushed her to pursue a career in it. Rayn is a full time student and works part time as a waitress. She has two little sisters that she loves dearly, but they can get on her nerves sometimes, like any younger sibling would. One thing that Rayn loves is anything Disney. Songs, shows, movies, she loves it all. She has Disney fairies on the walls of her room. She loves Disney so much she dresses up like Elsa from frozen and goes to the Children's hospital to spend time with the kids. Besides Disney she also loves Johnny Depp and Harry Potter. Interesting fact is when she was 7 years old she was part of a band called Princesses of Hogwarts. Her band preformed at Madison Square Garden and has been on radio stations. Needless to say she had a fun childhood. She is a loving, bubbly person. She always has a smile on her face. She considers herself a dreamer. She believes in fairy tales and wants to spread happiness everywhere.
